The Wolf & spirituality
Wolves are some of the most misunderstood creatures on the Earth. For centuries they have been hunted almost to extinction in some places. Some countries still hunt the wolf and relay stories of old where the wolf is portrayed a bad or evil character. I would like to share my understanding of the wolf with you which comes from the way that some native americans or followers of the 'Red Road' regard the wolf. It's also what the wolf means to me and how I identify with the wolf in the way that I live.
The wolf's medicine is that of a teacher, guide and pathfinder.
Wolves are strong pack animals with ties similar to human families. These values can be seen when watching documentaries on the life of the animal. Usually a wolf will mate for life, all the members of the pack share the kill on a hunt and their young never go without food.....and every member of the pack cares for the young.....something that some humans have forgotten in this day.
I believe in Spirit Guides. Some people, races or religions may refer to them as angels, farishte, guardian angels and so on. To my way of being a Spirit Guide is not restricted to human form. It may be an animal.......it could be some other form. I don't know everything, so i like to keep the boundaries well ahead and out of my view on these matters. That way I can keep encountering wonderful spiritual instances, wonderful animals and wonderful people.....and it means that my learning and development goes on without limit. It's not possible to see everything in one journey of the wheel....but I'll see a good bit of it........and so will you if you're open to the true wonder of the Universe, of which we are all a part.
I believe that all things are connected and rather than give you my interpretation on it...I feel it would be better to quote what Chief Seattle said in 1854:
"You must teach your children that the ground beneath their feet is the ashes of our grandfathers. So that they will respect the land, tell your children that the Earth is rich with the lives of our kin. Teach your children what we have taught our children, that the Earth is our Mother.
Whatever befalls the Earth befalls the sons of the Earth. If men spit upon the ground, they spit upon themselves. This we know - the Earth does not belong to man - man belongs to the Earth. This we know. All things are connected like the blood which unites one family.
All things are connected. Whatever befalls the Earth - befalls the sons of the Earth. Man did not weave the web of life - he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself."
